        • Give more publicity to the [phalcon] tag on Stack Overflow

          I'm one of the moderators on Stack Overflow

          ... and I noticed that we have only one question related to Phalcon:

          Several open source projects have listed Stack Overflow as a resource to get answers to questions. As long as you clearly indicate that Stack Overflow is not the place to ask feature requests and that we expect clearly written questions, the questions will receive a much broader audience (and likely lead others to discover the project).

          You can also help improve the quality of the tag by editing (or suggesting edits to) the tag wiki (which I…

            I am from china and can't visit google group because of government policy. Thus people like me can't find help with phalcon. Why not open a forum at your own site?

            • add attributes to Phalcon_tag image()

              Hi there,

              I'd like to be able to (for example) add an 'alt' tag to the image function of Phalcon_Tag, i.e like in Fuel :

              echo Asset::img('logo.png', array('alt' => 'logo'));

              Also, currently when using Tag::image or Tag::javascriptInclude it doesn't add a newline at the end, is this normal behaviour?

              Thanks for the awesome work so far!

                  Can you make a test without any framework, just to see what plain PHP "hello world" is giving in numbers?

                    It would be really nice to store you configurations in .ini file and just load the ini file and all your regex routes are loaded.

                    • Mail component

                      I would like to see a Mail component in the framework.

                      The component encapsulate sending mail over Sendmail (linux) or SMTP with local/remote connections.

                      from
                      to
                      message

                      cc
                      bcc
                      attachments

                      should be considered as core.

                      • Add documentation on how to upgrade with minimal downtime to end users

                        Firstly let me say I am really excited about Phalcon, I cant wait to try it out.

                        I'm just a little worried about downtime for users when I need to upgrade the Phalcon core or make changes to my application (and I'm sure a lot of users from other php frameworks are too).

                        It would be great if you outlined strategies for upgrading with minimal downtime. I am guessing the use of load balancers upstream and then manually moving clients between each server to perform the upgrade must be involved... but I'm just guessing. Maybe there are other easier ways.

                          Hi Tim, thanks, we don’t have a specific strategy to upgrade phalcon on many servers, in our unique experience with that, we’ve used git to push the changes to remote repositories, but we are not sure if that is a good way, we’ll let open this issue to get help from other members of the community. Thanks

                        • Add relationship support on count, sum etc.

                          A query like:

                          SELECT COUNT(s.id) AS total, p.name AS playerName, s.award
                          FROM scoring s
                          INNER JOIN players p ON s.playerId = p.id
                          GROUP BY s.award, s.playerId
                          ORDER BY s.award ASC, total DESC, p.name

                          cannot be fully represented when calling count, sum etc.

                          We would like the ability to be able to sort on fields of joined tables.

                          Ideally you could have a full relationship model bound to Phalcon_Model_Base whereas one could do something like this:

                          $resultset = Scoring::count(
                          array(
                          'join' => 'Players p',
                          'group' => 'award, playerId',
                          'order' => 'award, p.playerName rowcount DESC'
                          )
                          );

                            • About the framework comparison

                              Hi!

                              I checked out the code you used to benchmark frameworks and IMHO the test is not fair with Symfony2. You're using Twig which adds extra overhead both in terms of memory and speed (it is a complete template engine loaded and nothing is used) and for instance Kohana and Zend are just plain files in the view.

                              Symfony2 should use a return new Symfony\Component\HttpFoundation\Response('<h1>Hello</h1>); in SayController to be analogue and if it is possible, also use ApcUniversalClassLoader in the autoload. Maybe some other fine tunings could be done but these two are the biggest ones.

                              Of course, I am…
